Using oil colours that never fade—either on recycled paper or canvas—every piece of Shailja’s art begins without any prior sketching. A veteran of myriad forms of fine arts (with a special love for abstract human paintings) and enthusiast of all kinds of creativity, the ever-smiling artist is a lifelong member of The Art Society of India and The National Centre For The Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai.
Today, her work adorns various prestigious walls across the country and beyond despite her lack of formal training in the fine arts. To her, this lack of methodical learning allows her to break free from structures and styles, allowing the paintings to speak for themselves instead of being bound
by conventions.
This month, in honour of International Women's Month, celebrate the strength, resilience, and creativity of a woman.
