Bipin Kumar is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice explores the relationship between abstraction, perception, and the shifting states of human consciousness. For him, painting extends beyond the representation of the visible world, becoming a means of revealing the experiences, emotions, and ideas that lie beneath its surface. Through line, colour, and form, he creates visual spaces in which images emerge, dissolve, and transform.A graduate of Patna Art College, where he completed his BFA, Kumar received his MFA from Delhi College of Art in 1992. Over more than three decades of artistic practice, his work has evolved from suggestive symbolism towards a more expansive language of abstraction. His compositions bring together geometric structures, fluid forms, and dynamic colour relationships, allowing each element to interact in a continuous process of visual discovery. In Kumar’s work, geometry is neither rigid nor static; it becomes an expressive and evolving element shaped by movement, intuition, and colour. Rather than following a predetermined visual outcome, he allows each painting to develop organically, embracing ambiguity and leaving room for multiple interpretations. His paintings are not intended as definitive statements but as invitations to engage with the intangible dimensions of experience. By bringing memory, emotion, and imagination into dialogue, Bipin Kumar encourages viewers to look beyond appearances and discover new ways of perceiving and reimagining reality.
